THREE More Weeks Until The March SAT: Prepare as Yale Considers the SAT/ACT Reinstatement too
The new Digital SAT is coming up March 9th, 2024! Mark your calendars and get ready!

Tigerway Team Members and Families,
Mark your calendars for March 9th, 2024!
On March 9th, 2024, the new Digital SAT is being administered in the US! Make sure you have registered through the College Board website here. You can also check the other SAT registration deadlines on the website!
Due to the New Digital SAT changes, schools are reinstating the SAT/ACT standardized testing policy in their college application process.
As you may recall from last week’s email, Dartmouth College reinstated the SAT/ACT requirements for their college applications. Yale University is now “closely considering” this policy as stated by Yale’s academic dean, Jeremiah Quinlan.
This is a reminder that Standardized testing will hold its weight on your college admissions process. To prepare you for the next three weeks, we want to prepare and remind you of the new format of the digital SAT.
What’s different about this SAT compared to the traditional?
Each section, Reading and Writing & Math will have two modules
This is a multi-staged test. How well you do in the first module will determine the difficulty of the second module (adaptive).
This can help you estimate your potential score based on the difficulty of the second module.
The test duration is 2 hours and 14 minutes.
Reading/Writing: 27 questions per module (54 total) with 1 hour and 4 minutes.
Math: 22 questions per module (44 total), with calculators allowed throughout with 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Covers Algebra, Advanced Math, ProblemSolving & Data Analysis, and Geometry
Remember, the new Digital SAT is ADAPTIVE. This means you should aim to do well in Module 1 so that you can face more challenging questions in Module 2 and achieve a higher score! It's all about tailoring the test to your skills.
Try practicing this digital SAT math question before reading my commentary!
Commentary:
Mean of a data set: sum of values divided by the number of values.
Data set A: 75 buildings with a mean of 32 meters, represented by 75×32=2400 meters.
Data set B: 50 buildings with a mean of 62 meters, represented by 50×62=3100 meters.
Data set C consists of the combined 125 buildings from A and B, so its mean is (2400+3100)/125=44 meters.
The correct answer is 44.
