In this email, I want to talk to you about how top college financial aid resources are stretched thin, and how the landscape for scholarships and financial support is becoming increasingly competitive.
It's no secret that pursuing higher education comes with a price tag, and for many, that price can be daunting.
With lower interest rates but higher competition for scholarships and financial aid, we must focus on maximizing our academic potential now to secure better opportunities in the future.
Scholarships and financial aid are not guaranteed.
Endowments outside of the Ivy League are being stretched thin, leading to less generous financial aid packages than in previous years. This means that the fight for non-loan aid is fiercer than ever before.
What does this mean for you?
It means that your academic performance matters more than ever. Your grades and standardized test scores are not just numbers on a transcript; they are the key to unlocking future opportunities.
Higher grades and scores can make you a more competitive candidate for scholarships and financial aid, potentially reducing the burden of student loans and heavy financial responsibilities in the future.
We can no longer have average profiles of As and Bs and a couple of extra extracurriculars. It is required that students excel in their education, and test scores(1400+) and have leadership positions and more to stand out. Excelling not only prepares you for the real world of challenges in college, but it also allows you to be prioritized more during the admissions process when they decide to disperse grants and scholarships to students.
Even if you manage to get admitted to your dream school, relying solely on loans can lead to significant financial strain down the road. It's essential to think long-term and consider the financial implications of your education decisions.
Investing in your education NOW by raising your grades and scores is an investment in your future financial well-being. By striving for academic excellence, you can save money in the long run and open doors to more opportunities for scholarships and financial aid.
For those seeking SAT/ACT preparation or College Prep, Tigerway offers in-person group coaching sessions conveniently located in Boston.
These sessions will start the weekend of April 6th, 2024, and will be led by Coach Calvin Cheung. This opportunity allows students to have highly engaged sessions, expanded Boston networks, and more resources that will prepare them for future admissions.
