Tigerway Team Members and Families,
Mark your calendars for March 9th, 2024.
It is a special day for Sophomores and Underclassmen!
On March 9th, 2024, we will be entering a new era of the SAT Exam. It is the very first test date for the brand-new exam format! Tigerway is excited to see how the new format does next year and is already providing our students with the strategies they need for both formats right now!
As we continue our Premium Weekly Analysis Emails, we will be sending you insights into the new SAT exam, strategies on how to conquer some of the challenging questions, and more! We want you to feel fully prepared and confident when facing the new format of the Digital SAT.
Our Online Private Coaching Program is already providing our students the training they need at Tigerway on the new format. We already have the best prep, practice, and strategy resources to help you ace the digital exam next year.
To help prepare you, I wanted to go over some sample questions with you.
Please take a moment to answer these questions before reading my commentary:
Commentary:
In this question, we are given a description of a poem called “Ghost of the Old Year”. We want to break down the key idea of what the description tells us:
Experiencing on-going cycle
Anticipation
Regretful reaction
After breaking down the key details, we want to see which quotation gives similar aspects to the description/similar key ideas.
We want a quotation that focuses on anticipation and regretful reaction.
Choice A: focuses on anticipation but not regretful reaction (“A pause—a hush”).
Choice C: focuses on worry and anxiety (“Akin to fright?”).
Choice D: focuses on regretful reaction but not anticipation(“It tells of many a squandered day”).
The answer is Choice B: The quotation addresses the aspects of the claim of anticipation “Each, coming, brings ambitions high”) and regretful reaction (“departing, leaves a sigh”).
Commentary:
This question tests your skills in linear equations with variables by presenting you with an equation and some context.
We are given two regular polygons with the sum of perimeters = 63 inches.
X is the number of sides of figure A and y is the number of sides of figure B
3x + 6y = 63 is the situation of the two figures where 3x and 6y represent the perimeters of figures A and B where x resembles the number of sides in Figure A and y resembles the number of sides in Figure B.
Choice A is correct: Each side of Figure B is 6 inches.
Why is it important to start practicing for the Digital SAT NOW?
By familiarizing yourself with the new format early on, you gain a significant advantage.
Becoming comfortable with the digital interface, tools, and features reduces test-day anxiety and ensures a smoother experience.
There will be unique challenges distinct from the traditional paper-based version. Practicing now allows you to adapt your test-taking strategies to the digital format, maximizing your performance on exam day.
You’ll be able to identify and address areas of improvement, building your confidence and proficiency in tackling the digital SAT.
Remember, it is always better to start early! When it comes to starting early, there's no better place than Tigerway!
