Dear Tigerway Team Members, Parents, and Prospective Families,
In this email, I will be exposing you to two questions from the released Digital SAT Tests.
Take a look at these questions, try them yourself and then read my explanations.
Question 33 on Test 1 Reading Section:
This is a new type of question…How do we solve this?
The digital SAT introduces a different format in the reading section. Instead of facing five passages with a couple of questions, students now face a different passage for each question.
This is a new type of question with ‘notes' given to the students to summarize relevant information. The skill of getting key topics for a big picture is important for these questions.
The notes mention two women, Hedgeman and Bates, that were involved in the Civil Rights Movement and their contributions.
There is no comparison between Hedgemen and Bates. The notes specifically just state the two women as historical figures and what they did. Hedgemen worked as an organizer of the events while Bates spoke at these events.
Choice C is the correct answer.
This type of question is new but it has an easy structure to follow:
Understand what the key topics are and how to summarize the big picture of what is being given to you. This skill will be helpful for you when you face different reading passages for each question in this test.
Question 24 on the Test 1 Math Section:
Basic fundamentals in functions and exponents
Given that f(1) = k, we would substitute x as 1 to see if k is the function’s coefficient or base.
Each of the shown functions has the coefficient multiplied by another number with an exponent equation. What would we have to do to have the coefficient be by itself?
When a number has an exponent of 0, it equals to 1, and 1 multiplied by the coefficient equals the coefficient. We would have to find the exponent equation that would equal 0 when x is 1.
f(x) = 128(1.6)^x - 1 —> f(1) = 128(1.6)^1-1 —> f(1) = 128(1.6)^0 = 128(1) = k
Choice C is the correct answer
Sophomores and grades below, if you are having ANY difficulty answering these questions please book a call today to brainstorm a strategy plan and to make sure you’re prioritized on our waitlist.
The upcoming exams this year will have questions like the ones I’ve presented to you in this email. Prepare wisely this year as the digital SAT is set for next year in 2024.
