Dear Tigerway Team Members, Parents, and Prospective Families,
As we continue on with the new year, we want to remind Team Members how important grit and resilience are in success, especially when facing failures. The mistakes you make in your journey to achieving any goal, allow you to improve and learn. Sometimes failure can be good for you. These impactful experiences will provide you with the feedback you need on what went wrong in your process and how you can readjust to make better outcomes as you continue on your journey.
Whether your goal is a test score or an acceptance to a certain school, there will always be a process to get there. The important skills you must learn from this journey are grit and resilience—the ability to pick yourself back up on your feet and continue your hard work and dedication. It can often be challenging to stay motivated and focused, especially for long durations, but you must remember your end goal and that you are taking these steps to progress.
In fact, there are times when I felt discouraged by my own failures. However, that never stopped me from picking myself back up and learning what I did wrong. Reflecting on experiences and actions allowed me to avoid making the same mistakes in the future.
My Journey as a Tigerway Team Member
For example, my first SAT score was not the best considering how much I had prepared for it. I finished one term of Tigerway, intensely trained for all topics included in the SAT, and always asked questions. I expected to be a Tigerway Megastar right away from my first SAT, but that didn’t go as planned.
I remember talking to Larry about it, disappointed and embarrassed about my score. However, Larry quickly reminded me that this was just a step in my journey. I still improved from my previous PSAT score. Instead of being embarrassed, I quickly got back to work and took Larry’s advice. I focused on the topics that I struggled on and stayed consistent with my work ethic and dedication.
I knew I was steps closer to my goal.
By my second SAT, I finally became a Tigerway Megastar. This story is one of many that have helped me grow and appreciate my experiences.
Remember this:
Failure is an inevitable part of the journey to success. But, how you learn from these failures will give you the growth mindset that you need in order to persist in your future opportunities. As you push yourself through these obstacles, you become stronger mentally and emotionally.
Your grit, resilience, and hard work resemble the strong work ethic you need in order to prosper in your future career. More doors will open to you with these long-term skills as long as you are persistent. Take every experience you have as a lesson learned for your future.
Everyone experiences a different journey at their own pace. Take your own time to work on your skills and needs. You are in control of your own scores, outcomes, and future.
