Tigerway: Know about the different types of College Application Deadlines
Students should take the chance to research their academic opportunities and know more about FAFSA.
Dear Tigerway Team Members, Parents, and Prospective Families,
Good luck to Team Members taking the October SAT today! Please check the forecast and practice the material for those taking the PSAT this month.Â
Today, October 1st marks an important day for current seniors. The October SAT exam is today and the 2023-2024 FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) is now open. I urge seniors to take the chance to apply to FAFSA as soon as possible regardless of eligibility. The sooner you apply to FAFSA, the more aid you may qualify for. Seniors have until March to make sure their FAFSA is submitted for the following year.
Along with FAFSA applications, early college deadlines are also coming close. Students should know the difference between college application deadlines.
Here are the differences:
Early Decision: For students that are absolutely sure about what college they want to attend. Students can show more commitment by applying Early Decision. Students often do this with their first choice schools. Students cannot accept any other college offers, if they are admitted to the school they applied Early Decision to; however, you do receive an earlier response.
Early Action: Unlike Early Decision, you can apply to multiple schools at an earlier date. Instead, students just show earlier interest. Students may also qualify for more scholarships only accessible to early students.Â
Regular Admission: Students have more time to complete their applications and can apply to as many as they like. The December SAT is the last SAT exam that can be taken for this deadline.
Rolling Admission: Not all colleges have a rolling admission choice. However, for those that do, colleges evaluate the applications as soon as they come in.Â
Some deadlines have more benefits than others, so make sure you know your deadlines and what is best for you. Submitting your college application takes a lot of thought. All Seniors should watch out for their college application timelines.
