Tigerway: Exciting Program Schedule Changes starting in September + Mock Exam Tomorrow
Exciting schedule changes begin on Saturday, September 3rd
Dear Tigerway Team Members, Parents, and Prospective Families,
I want to wish all Tigerway Team Members taking the August Exam good luck tomorrow! You have worked hard this summer and I just want to remind some important things to do for test day:
Test Day Reminders:
Get adequate amounts of sleep (at least 8 hours)
MAKE SURE to bring your calculator and that your batteries are charged
Arrive at the testing center early, and do not be late.
Avoid greasy foods as they can slow down your pace of thinking.
Spend today doing light reading and reviewing notes. Do not do anything that could lower your test-taking confidence.
You MUST bring a watch and pace yourself.
Make sure to do your work thoroughly and minimize careless mistakes.
Make sure all questions are answered before time runs out.
Our post-exam Survey on Discord will be available to fill out after you take the exam. Please fill out the survey once it’s out so we can continue forecasting future exam topics.
For Team members who are not taking the Official SAT August Exam this weekend, there will be a Tigerway proctored Mock exam on Saturday, August 27th (9 am - 1 pm) because this Week 7 in our program. During mock exam weeks, there will be no traditional lecture this week. As a reminder, that means that there are no Sunday classes this week.
Exciting Program Schedule Change Starting in September (Effective September 3rd)
As Parents and Team Members know, my Team and I are always looking for the best ways to serve our student community to achieve the best possible academic outcomes via the SAT and to secure the best college admission opportunities available.
Starting this September (beginning on the weekend of September 3rd), we will have an exciting program schedule change.
We will be evolving our classes to include College Strategy, Advice, and Guidance in each week’s session for our Team Members. Because this information is standardized, we will be adopting a schedule change that will look like this:
New Schedule Starting on September 3rd
All Tigerway Sessions will take place on Saturdays from 9am-12pm starting on September 3rd. This means that classes will only take place on Saturdays, and all Team Members from Sunday will attend Saturday classes.
We will also have Coaching Office Hours from 1pm-2pm.
Let me take a moment to explain what content we will be covering inside each session going forward.
During our 9-12pm session, we will continue focusing heavily on the SAT English and Math Sessions with a distinct unique approach of sharing valuable life applications related to these areas. The rigorous drilling that we have conducted in our sessions will continue to be the same.
The primary value-added difference is that every week, we will now host Office Hours where we have breakout rooms on Zoom to allow our Team Member students to ask dedicated questions about their college planning strategy and if they have any specific SAT questions they want to review.
In other words, this new structure will allow more participation in an online setting among our Assistant Coaches and our Team Members.
With this change, we hope to continue to improve scores by implementing effective content while assisting Team Members in pursuing their dream colleges.
Some motivational case studies from our Alumni Network
Here are two Team Members who have gotten into their dream ivy league colleges:
Ahmed Alananzeh: Ahmed wanted to learn new study techniques to bring his 1200 score to a 1400+. Ahmed quickly picked up new study strategies with hands-on experience in the Tigerway program. Not only did he improve his skills in studying and time management, but he also got to network with other Team members in the program. By the end of his Senior year, Ahmed scored an amazing 1480 and got a full scholarship to Yale University!
Dusu Sidibay: Dusu’s journey with Tigerway started in the 1100s SAT range. She consistently worked hard to improve her score as she climbed the SAT ranges (From 1100 to 1200 to 1300...). She decided to trust the program model and work harder each time she scored higher. By the end, she super scored a 1400 SAT score. Dusu compares her journey of standardized testing to her journey in life where staying consistent and hard-working brings you great success. Dusu is now attending Princeton University!
If your son or daughter is an underclassman (9th/10th/11th grade) it would be advantageous to have a brainstorming session with me to understand how our programs can help you position yourself for success.Â
As the college landscape evolves, I am now exploring more ways to help our Team at Tigerway shine in the college admission process.
Best,Â
Coach Larry Cheung, CFA, and Program Officer Jasmine Ngo
