Year-end Conference recap and a SAMPLE QUESTION from the Digital SAT
This email is written by Program Director Jasmine Ngo
Tigerway Team Members and Families,
Last week, Coach Larry hosted a conference about the Digital SAT and College Admissions. In this email, I will be writing you a quick recap about the conference and when you can sign up for the next one!
The New Digital 2024 SAT: What’s new
Each section, Reading and Writing & Math will have two modules,
This is a multi-staged test. How well you do in the first module will determine the difficulty of the second module (adaptive).
This can help you estimate your potential score based on the difficulty of the second module.
The test duration is 2 hours and 14 minutes.
Reading/Writing: 27 questions per module (54 total) with 1 hour and 4 minutes.
Math: 22 questions per module (44 total), with calculators allowed throughout with 1 hour and 10 minutes.
Covers Algebra, Advanced Math, ProblemSolving & Data Analysis, and Geometry
Here’s a sample Digital SAT question from our Digital Library:
Jasmine’s Commentary:
The triangles are similar: equal angles with proportional corresponding sides.Â
Since the ratio of the perimeters is 7:4, this is also the ratio of the sides
Use the ratio to find the missing side:
        7/4 = x/54 → x = 13
Calculate the perimeter of the larger triangle: 10 + 12 + 13 = 35
Set up another proportion to find the perimeter of the smaller triangle
       4/7 = x/35 → x = 20
The answer is 20.
College Admissions: What’s important
Applicant volume remains high
Early Decision is the edge
Almost half of the students are submitting Test Scores
Sub-scores are becoming more important
The major you choose is important
Find a good college fit is very important
