Hot tip on the SAT Math Section: Understanding Functions is Critical for a 750+ Math Score
Brief Tip on SAT Math Strategy for upcoming November and December Exams.
Note to Prospective Families: We are experiencing very high demand for our 1:1 Coaching Program with our Staff Coaching Team for the SATs and Academic Subjects (High School Math or English). For this reason, if your son or daughter wants individualized attention, please book a call with us today or our availability may be fully utilized soon (spots for 1:1 are obviously limited).
After the October SAT, our post-exam surveys indicate that Functions is a very hot topic on the SAT Math section.
Out of committment to add value to our student community, we want to use this email to help you understand what types of questions to expect from functions.
This question below is a prime example.
As you can see from this problem, there are a few things that students should focus on. Here are the focus points:
The question is CLEARLY asking for the cost for each PHONE survey.
This means that you need to actively focus on the Phone survey and NOT get distracted by the mail surveys
It is clear that the total cost is $5000 for BOTH surveys. So if there are 0 Mail Surveys from the chart, then that means that there will be 125 Phone Surveys.
From this we know that the cost PER PHONE SURVEY will be 5000/125 and that equals $40. The answer is C.
This question highlights the type of thinking required to be successful on the math section. Not only is accuracy important, it is VERY important that questions like these can be done in 30 SECONDS OR LESS (that is, if you want a 750+ Math).
We broadly help students tackle these questions in our Group Format (what we are traditionally known for).
However, we also have exceptionally talented 1:1 Coaches who can direct your son or daughter to effectively problem solve questions like the above with far greater speed (in addition to accuracy).
Our data suggests that 1:1 Coaching in an online setting is incredibly engaging and effective. It provides another option for students who may enjoy individualized attention that a group setting may not offer (group setting has its own benefits, such as always trying to competitively keep pace with other students).
We have 2-3 Coaches currently on our Staff Team who have limited availability with expertise on the SAT and High School academic courses relating to Math and English.
If you want individual instruction, let’s have a brainstorming session to see if your teen could benefit from our Private Coaching Staff.
Our tuition for private coaching is among some of the most competitive and reasonable rates in all of the industry, on top of our reputation.
We’ll see you in our next email.
