Colleges Are Reinstating the SAT. Are You Ready for July Prep?
Why July May Be the Most Important Month for SAT Prep All Year
Dear Parents & Students -
We believe that it’s possible within 2 years, a larger wave of Universities will go back to test-required and reinstate as a prerequisite for college admissions. See below a recent statement that a University Dean made on the nature of standardized testing given today’s political environment: that it would be naive to think that many universities won’t start changing their testing policies in this political climate.
Whether this prediction will come to fruition or not, for students looking to get more scholarship opportunities and elite college admission chances, standardized testing is simply not optional.
The best part is that SAT scores is the easiest part on a college application to improve in. And for many students, it’s often the final piece that pushes them into the Admit pile.
As we turn the corner into July, there’s one thing we want to stress loud and clear:
This is the most strategic window for students to make real SAT gains before fall deadlines.
Whether your child is aiming for a top 20 school or just wants to break into the 1400+ range, the next 6–8 weeks are the make-or-break period.
Here’s why:
The July-August Window = Peak Growth Period
Our internal data at Tigerway shows that students who consistently prepare across July and early August improve 120–180 points on average compared to those who start in September.
Why?
Because in the summer, students can:
Study without the distractions of school
Focus on key weaknesses
Take full-length practice exams and review thoroughly
Most students underestimate what’s possible in 6 weeks — but with the right prep, we routinely see score jumps of 200+ points in this window.
Colleges Are Reinstating Test Requirements
The SAT is now required at the selective schools — and it’s becoming a gatekeeper again at many top universities (even if the official websites don’t say so):
Most of the Top 30 schools see the SAT/ACT as a top factor in admissions.
Generous scholarships are given to students with High Scores and Good Grades
Public systems like Florida and Georgia that offer enormous scholarship packages never dropped the test.
And here’s the kicker:
According to recent NACAC data, 56% of 4-year colleges now either require or recommend SAT scores for the Class of 2025.
Students who submit a strong SAT score will stand out.
The August Digital SAT Is a Huge Opportunity
The August 24, 2025 SAT is the perfect target exam for Early Action. With July prep, students have:
Enough time to master the new digital format
Room for 3–4 full-length timed practices
Time to boost confidence across both Math and Reading
